An approach to phonetics which sees speech as a single physiological system, in which the range of articulatory variables (or parameters) in the vocal tract is seen as being continually in operation, interacting in various ways along the time dimension to produce a continuum of sound which listeners segment according to the rules of their language.

语音学的一种理论，将言语视为单一的生理系统，其中声道内的各种发音动作变项（或“参项”）被视为连续不断地运作，在时间维度上以各种方式相互作用而产生连续语流，听者则根据其语言的规则加以切分。
