Exegetic Translation

诠释性翻译

Defined by Hervey & Higgins as “a style of translation in which the TT expresses and explains additional details that are not explicitly conveyed in the ST”, or in other words, one in which “the TT is, at the same time, an expansion and explanation of the contents of the ST”. As such it contrasts sharply with the strategy of Gist Translation in terms of the amount of information that is conveyed.
