（应）负责的

 

①【例】Under such circumstances, the sellers shall not be held responsible.

在此情况下，不应由卖方负责。

 

②常接用for。

【例】The insurance company is responsible for the claims.

对这些索赔，保险公司负有责任。

 

③表示对何人（或单位）负责时，常接用介词to。

【例】Although responsible to the Italian government, ENI enjoys considerable financial and operating autonomy.

国家碳化氢公司对意大利政府负责，但享有很大财政和经营自主权。

 

rest

【1】剩余部分

 

①前面有the，后面接用of。

【例】We would greatly appreciate it, if you would forward the rest of the order soon.

如蒙迅速发运订货的剩余部分，则十分感激。

 

②rest可根据含义，使用单数或复数的动词、代词与之呼应。

【例】We’ve got only a few sewing machines in stock, because all the rest (of them) have been sold out.

我们库存仅有数台缝纫机，因为其余的皆已售出。

 

【2】依然是，保持

 

用法如同连系动词，后面接用表语。

【例】You may share our opinion that neither agents nor sellers can rest satisfied with the receipt of indents. What is more important is to follow out a contract once signed.

你方当会同意我方这样的意见，不论代理商还是售货人均不能以收到订单为满足；更重要的是在签订合同后履行合同的义务。

 

【3】rest assured that... 相信……

 

【例】Please rest assured that we will make every effort to locate supply for you.

请相信我方将尽力为你方寻找供货。

 

【4】rest on [upon]在……之上

 

【例】The responsibility of the damaged goods was found to rest on the part of the seller.

货物损坏的责任在于售方。

 

【5】rest with归于，在于

 

【例】The responsibility for shipment of the faulty goods rests entirely with you.

装运劣货的责任完全在于你方。

我们印花细布的库存已耗尽，不知何时才能补进该货。
