【1】一打，十二个

 

①【例】We note your wishes for the basins to be arranged in dozens and packed in cartons.

我们知道，你方希望将面盆一打一打地放起来并用纸板盒包装。

 

②与数字连用时用单数，且dozen后的of省去。

【例】There was a short-shipment of 5 dozen woollen socks.

羊毛短袜短装了5打。

 

③与several，many等不定数词连用时，dozen用单数省掉of或dozen用复数接用of都可以。

【例】They bought several [many] dozen (dozens of) pencils.

他们买了几打[许多打]铅笔。

 

④dozen与其他名词组成复合单位时可用复数。

【例】One of our clients in Paris is in the market for a parcel of 2000 dozens/sets of ladies’ pyjamas Art. No. 208.

【例】We take pleasure in recommending to you our “Tiger” brand candles which come in dozens of artistic shapes, all burning with a bright, dripless and smokeless flame.

汇票的正式名称为bill of exchange，简称bill，通常在承兑之前称为draft。

①【例】We grant your request for payment by L/C with draft at 90 days sight.

②常组成draft on sb for a sum。

【例】We will make a draft on you for the amount of US$1000 at 30 d/s.

常用作定语。

【例】We have drawn up a draft contract, which we are sending you herewith.
