常用复数形式表示某一集体用户

【例】Our end-users claim that the microscope in question be replaced by you with a sound one.

我方用户要求你方用一台完好的显微镜调换这一台。

 

enforce

使生效，强制执行

 

【例】Not all awards are enforced by statutory requirements.

并非所有的裁决在法律上都要求强制执行。

 

engage

【1】约定，保证

 

①接用动词不定式。句式：engage (oneself) to do sth。

【例】We will try but cannot engage (ourselves) to ship the goods on the steamer mentioned.

我们争取将货物装上该轮，但不能保证做到。

 

②接用that从句。

【例】We hereby engage that payment will be duly made against documents presented in conformity with the terms of this credit.

我行保证凭提交符合本信用证条款的单据付款。

 

【2】聘用，雇用

 

【例】The Managing Director is worried about productivity and has decided to engage consultants.

总经理[常务董事]正为生产效率低而忧虑，已决定聘用顾问。

 

【3】吸引（注意力）

 

【例】Your proposal of making a personal visit here to smooth the way for our future cooperation has engaged our particular attention.

我们特别注意到您提出亲自前来访问为将来合作铺平道路的建议。

 

【4】engage in从事于，参加，经营

 

【例】May we ask what countries you have mainly traded with in the past and what lines you have engaged in?
