感谢新西兰中国商会邀请我出席今晚的活动，并与两国商界一道，以慈善晚宴的方式迎接新的一年。我谨代表中国驻新西兰使馆，向各位嘉宾致以新春祝福，祝大家猪年快乐，万事如意！
Let me first thank the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand for giving me the honor to speak tonight. There’s no better way to kick off the New Year by celebrating the spirit of philanthropy with business leaders of both countries. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, let me extend my warm New Year greetings to all the friends here for a happy, prosperous and successful year of the Pig!
新西兰中国商会自2002年成立以来，一直致力于服务中国企业在新发展，促进中新企业交流合作。感谢王磊会长及各位会员为推动中新经贸合作做出的贡献。多年来，商会及会员不仅为两国经贸交流发挥了积极作用，也通过创造就业，为新西兰经济和社会发展作出了重要贡献，同时积极履行社会责任，向需要帮助的人伸出援手，与当地社区共享成功。今天的筹款晚宴即是最好的例证。
Ever since its founding in 2002, the Chamber has been fulfilling its mission to serve its members and to build a bridge between Chinese and New Zealand business communities. I want to thank President Wang Lei and commend the Chamber members for your contribution in advancing business ties between China and New Zealand. Over the years, you have made significant contributions not only to the bilateral trade, but also to the economic and social development of New Zealand by creating jobs and providing opportunities to the people. You have shared your success with the local community by fulfilling social responsibility and by extending a helping hand to those in need. The gala dinner tonight is the best example.
经贸合作是中新双边合作中最具活力的组成部分，也是两国关系的基石和推进器。中新经济互补性强，双边经贸合作给两国带来了实实在在的利益。去年，中新双边贸易额达179亿美元，占新西兰全球贸易额的22%，新西兰对华出口96亿美元，同比增长12%。
Business ties have been the most vibrant and productive component of our bilateral cooperation. It is also the bedrock and propeller of China-New Zealand relations. With highly complementary economies, our cooperation has delivered tangible benefits to both sides. Last year, our bilateral trade reached 17.9 billion US dollars, accounting for 22% of New Zealand’s global trade and New Zealand’s exports to China were 9.6 billion US dollars, which increased 12% year on year.
健康稳定的双边关系是中新经贸合作取得成功的重要前提。自建交以来，中新关系取得了巨大成就，长期处于中国与发达国家关系的前列。中新关系发展历程证明，互利共赢是两国合作的本质，相互尊重、不断扩大共同利益汇合点、妥善处理分歧是两国关系成功的关键。
The success of our trade and economic cooperation made a very convincing case for stronger bilateral relations between our two countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have made historic achievements and our cooperation in various fields have reached unprecedented breadth and depth. Our bilateral relationship has been on the forefront of China’s relations with developed countries. The journey of China-New Zealand relations proves that mutual benefit is the nature of our cooperation and mutual respect, the readiness to seek common ground while properly handle differences are the key to our success. Our partnership, which rests on solid complementarity, is well-positioned to be healthy, stable and resilient in a changing international environment.
当前，世界正经历大发展大变革大调整，多极化和全球化的趋势不断发展，各国日益相互依存。没有哪个国家能够独自应对人类面临的各种挑战。新技术的快速发展和应用对传统经济发展模式带来冲击，这既是中新面临的共同挑战，也为两国创新合作提供了前所未有的机遇。中新应在数字经济、人工智能、自动化等前沿科技领域加强合作，为两国经济发展提供新动力。新技术应成为两国合作的窗口，而不是双方合作的障碍。
The world we are living now is undergoing major development, transformation and adjustment. The trend toward multi-polarity and economic globalization is deepening, and countries are increasingly interdependent. We are facing common challenges that no country can tackle alone. China and New Zealand are faced with similar challenges, such as the rapid development and application of new technologies and the stress such technologies are putting on our economies. But at the same time, the advancement of new technologies also presents unprecedented opportunities for innovation cooperation between our two countries. We should intensify our cooperation in frontier areas such as digital economy, artificial intelligence and automation, so as to turn them into new driving force for our economic development. It is a shared understanding that new technology should be the window for our cooperation instead of a barrier for collaboration.
2018年是中国改革开放40周年。改革开放是过去几十年中国经济持续快速发展的关键。我们将继续致力于深化改革、扩大开放，打造世界一流的营商环境。正如习近平主席所说，“中国开放的大门不会关闭，只会越开越大”。我们将营造一个更加开放、包容的商业环境，为所有在华企业提供公平的竞争环境，共同分享中国经济发展带来的机遇。我们希望其他国家也能为当地中国企业提供公平、公开、透明的营商环境。
Last year, China celebrated the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. Reform has been a key contributor to the sustained and rapid growth of China over the past four decades. Looking forward, we will make even greater efforts to see the reform through and one of our top priorities is to foster a world-class business environment. As President Xi said, “China will not shut its door to the outside world, but open it even wider”. We will create a more open, favorable and inclusive business environment, providing a level playing field for all companies in China, both domestic and foreign, allowing them to share the opportunities of China’s growth. At the same time, we sincerely hope that other countries will also provide a fair, open and transparent business environment for Chinese companies abroad.
一个更加开放、繁荣的中国将为新西兰带来更多机遇。相信中新两国工商界将抓住机遇，挖掘合作潜力，携手创造中新互利合作更加美好的未来。
Once again, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for your contributions and support to this very important relationship. I am convinced that through our joint efforts and hard work, we will bring a better future of China-New Zealand relations.
