The novel coronavirus pneumonia has brought unprecedented challenges to all human beings. Since the outbreak, China and Brunei have been supporting each other wholeheartedly and have set up a goog example for countries to cooperate in response to the epidemic.
新冠肺炎疫情给全人类带来前所未有的挑战。疫情发生以来，中文两国真心诚意相互支持，树立了国与国合作应对疫情的典范。
China is the first country that took painstaking efforts to fight against the COVID-19. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government put people’s life and health at the first place and has taken the most comprehensive, the strictest and the most thorough prevention and control measures to battle the epidemic. The central government, other provinces and the armed forces extended strong support to Wuhan and other parts of Hubei Province. With Wuhan City locked down for 76 days, people there pulled pulled together with the people of the whole country in tough times and defeated the epidemic with tremendous price and a lot of sacrifices.
中国是第一个与新冠病毒展开艰苦斗争的国家。在习近平主席领导下，中国政府把人民健康安全放在首位，采取全面果断措施，遏制疫情蔓延。武汉封城76天。中央政府、各省及军队给予武汉和湖北其他各地坚决支持，武汉人民和全国人民团结一致，为战胜疫情付出了巨大努力和牺牲。
The Chinese government has always been adhering to the principle of openness, transparency and responsibility, timely reported outbreak and virus information, having won precious time for the world’s fight against the virus. Late December 2019,the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Hubei Province detected cases of pneumonia of unknown cause. On December 30, 2019, Wuhan Municipal Health Committee issued an “urgent notice on the treatment of pneumonia of unknown cause”. Starting January 3, 2020, China has been regularly informing the WHO, relevant countries and regions about the pneumonia outbreak. On January 12, the information on the genome sequence of the novel coronavirus was shared WHO and shared globally.

At the difficult time when China was combating the epidemic, Brunei provided its sincere support to China. His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei sent messages to the Chinese President H.E Mr. Xi Jinping and Premier H.E. Mr. Li Keqiang expressing support and sympathy. The Royal Family and the government of Brunei spoke highly of the measures taken by the Chinese government, and the Bruneian Government made a donation of fund to China. Bruneian people also expressed support for and donated fund and supplies to China. Bruneian students and tourism agencies recorded short videos to express their support.
在中国与疫情斗争的艰难时刻，文莱给予中国真诚支持。文莱苏丹分别向习近平主席和李克强总理致电表达支持和慰问。文莱王室、政府积极支持中国抗击新冠肺炎疫情采取的措施，文莱政府并给予资金援助。文莱社会各界向中国表达支持，捐款捐物。文莱学生和旅游业者录制小视频表达支持。
Since the outbreak, the Bruneian government has paid close attention to the situation, timely adopted and adjusted restriction measures, developed emergency plans and prepared testing kits and materials needed. In early March, Brunei reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19. Under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei, the government of Brunei has taken measures promptly to effectively contain the outbreak. A virology laboratory was set up quickly and the expansion of the isolation center with facilities was also completed in only a few weeks. With the support from all sectors in Brunei, the epidemic prevention work has achieved remarkable results in a short time.
疫情发生后，文莱政府密切关注，及时采取和调整管控措施，并制定应急预案，筹措检测试剂和防疫物资。3月初，文莱报告第一例确诊病例。在文莱苏丹领导下，文莱政府迅速采取措施，有效管控疫情。迅速建设检测试验室，扩大隔离中心设施。在文莱各界的支持下，防疫工作短时间内取得显著效果。
China empathizes the epidemic challenges faced by Brunei. The Chinese government donated epidemic prevention materials to the government of Brunei, and the Chinese Embassy in Brunei donated to Brunei COVID-19 Relief Fund. The Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Chinese partner of the Guangxi-Brunei Economic Corridor, donated medical supplies to the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Brunei. The Nanjing Municipal Government, the only sister city of Bandar Seri Begawan, donated medical supplies to the Ministry of Home Affairs of Brunei. Shenzhen Mammoth Public Welfare Foundation donated nucleic acid testing reagent. The Chinese Embassy and the Chinese enterprises in Brunei have provided strong support to Brunei in its efforts of medical procurement in China. The Chinese intangible cultural heritage practitioners and students recorded a short video to pray for the people of Brunei.
中国对文莱面临的疫情挑战感同身受。中国政府向文莱政府捐赠防疫物资，中国驻文莱使馆向文新冠肺炎救助基金捐资。广西-文莱经济走廊中方伙伴广西壮族自治区政府向财政经济部捐赠了医疗物资。作为斯里巴加湾市唯一的友城，南京市政府向内政部捐赠了医疗物资。深圳市猛犸公益基金会捐赠核酸检测试剂。中国驻文使馆和企业为文莱在华采购防疫物资提供了有力支持。中国的非物质文化遗产工作者、学生录制小视频为文莱人民祈福。
Affected by the epidemic, many Chinese companies facing various difficulties though, still actively supported Brunei to combat COVID-19. The Chinese companies or Chinese companies in Brunei, including Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co Ltd，Huawei Technologies (B) Sdn Bhd, Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Company Ltd, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Nanjing Chemical Construction Co Ltd, Yidu Cloud (Beijing) Technology Co Ltd, Guangxi Ruian Logistic (Group) Co Limited, The Brunei Branch of Bank of China, Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd, Pure Fresh (B) Sdn Bhd, HLD (B) Steel Sdn Bhd, China-Arab States Youth Entrepreneurship Park and Amann Shipping Group Sdn Bhd, donated anti-epidemic materials and fund to Brunei government. Sinotrans (B) Sdn Bhd provided free logistics services for the donated materials. Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd waived port charges of all cargo relating to medical supplies and equipment to combat the outbreak. According to incomplete statistics, the donations from Chinese companies are worth more than USD1.3 million in total.
受疫情影响，不少中国企业面临各种困难，但它们依然积极支持文莱的抗疫努力。浙江恒逸、华为（文莱）、广西北部湾港务集团、中国建筑、南京南化建设、医渡云、瑞安物流、中国银行文莱分行、摩拉港公司、品珍鲜活（文莱）、葫芦岛（文莱）钢铁、中国-阿拉伯国家青年创业园、安航海运等多家中国企业或在文中资企业纷纷捐款捐物。中国外运文莱公司为捐赠物资提供免费物流服务。文莱摩拉港免除与防疫相关物资的码头费用。据不完全统计，中国公司捐赠超过130万美元。
During the fight against the epidemic, the cooperation between China and Brunei in medical care has been greatly strengthened. China shared its anti-epidemic experience with Brunei without reservation. Chinese company BGI supplied testing kits to Brunei government in January, and provided technical support in setting up Southeast Asia’s first Fireeye virology laboratory, which greatly increased the testing capability. At the request of Brunei government, Chinese company Yiduyun sent its programmers to Brunei and helped Brunei to establish a big data platform for epidemic prevention and control while working closely with its Beijing team.
在应对疫情的过程中双方在医疗卫生领域的合作得到大力加强。中方毫无保留与文方分享新冠肺炎应对经验。华大基因在1月即向文莱供应核酸检测试剂，为文莱新建东南亚第一个火眼实验室提供技术支持，大幅提高检测能力。医渡云公司应文莱政府要求，迅即派技术小组逆行抵文，与北京团队密切配合，紧急搭建疫情应急响应平台。
To coordinate pushing forward the epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development is the primary task both China and Brunei. After Chinese President Xi Jinping’s successful state visit to Brunei in 2018, the cooperation continues to develop within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Hengyi’s oil refinery and petrochemical project at Pulau Muara Besar (PMB), the largest joint venture between China and Brunei, announced its successful production of qualified petrochemical products at the end of last year, which will accelerate Brunei’s economical diversification. The longest bridge across the sea in Southeast Asia co-built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, was open to public use in urgent situation during the outbreak. Chinese company is assisting SMEs in food sector in Brunei to develop new markets.
统筹推进疫情防控和经济社会发展是当前双方面临的首要任务。习近平主席2018年成功访问文莱后，两国“一带一路”框架下合作水平不断提升。双方最大合资项目——恒逸石化项目去年底建成投产，有力促进文莱经济多元化发展。中国建筑参与承建的东南亚最长跨海大桥——淡布隆大桥在疫情中临危受命紧急开通。中国公司积极协助文莱小微食品企业开拓市场。
As neighbors of the same kampong, China and Brunei have a tradition of helping and supporting each other in times of difficulty. solidarity and cooperation are the most powerful weapons to defeat the epidemic, no matters it is in a kampong or in the global village, Only by upholding the vision of a community of shared future for mankind can we address the common challenges facing by mankind. I firmly believe that the bilateral relation between China and Brunei, which have stood the test of the epidemic, will thrive.
中国和文莱是同一个甘榜的近邻，有在困难时刻相互帮助、相互支持的传统。从甘榜到地球村，团结合作是战胜疫情最有力的武器，唯有秉持人类命运共同体的理念才能应对人类面临的共同挑战。我坚信，经受了疫情考验的中文关系，将更加生机勃发。
