Frequency

频率

A term derived from the study of the physics of sound, and used in acoustic phonetics, referring to the number of occurrences of a sound wave in a unit of time (usually a second); it is measured in hertz (Hz), a term which has replaced the older ‘cycles per second’.

原为物理声学术语，现用于声学语音学，指单位时间（每秒）内声带振动完整周期的数目。现用赫兹（Hz）衡量，取代过去的“每秒周”。
