减少

 

①说明在哪方面减少时，可接用of；但说明价格减少时要接用in。

【例】The safety measures will result in the reduction of work accidents.

安全措施将减少安全事故。

 

②有时在具体说明哪方面减少时，也接用on。

【例】We will accept the price reduction on the radios.

我们愿接受收音机的减价。

 

③说减少或降低多少时，接用of。

【例】The best we can do is to make a reduction of 2% on our quotation.

我们最多只能将报价降低2%。

再出口，转口

 

【例】As our sole distributor, please see that you’ll neither handle same or similar products of other origins nor re-export our goods to any other areas outside your own.

【1】使（某人）参阅［询问、洽办等］

 

①句式：refer sb to sth。

【例】We refer you to our letter of March 15.

请参阅我方3月15日去函。

 

②句式：refer sb to sb for sth。可有被动语态句。

【例】We are referred to you for our yearly requirement of frozen pork.

（人家让）我们来商洽我方对冻猪肉年度需要量的事。

 

【2】提交（某人）解决［处理等］

 

①句式：refer sth to sb。

【例】We shall have no alternative but refer the matter to our solicitors.

我们除了将此事提交我方律师解决外，别无他法。

 

②句式：refer sth to sb for sth。可有被动语态句。

【例】Your enquiry for watches has been referred to us for attention.

你方关于手表的询价函已转交给我公司处理。

详细情况，请参见合同附件。

 

【4】refer to谈到，涉及

 

①【例】This refers to our various orders for window glass.

本函要谈到我方各项窗用玻璃的订货。

 

②可用过去分词作定语。

【例】We are still making watches of the type referred to and welcome the prospect of your renewed custom.

我们仍在制造所谈到的那一款式的手表，欢迎重新光顾。

 

③旧式书信常用referring to，with reference to开头，“涉及”相关的文件、电报、会谈等（现不宜仿效）。

【例】Referring to your request in your letter of July 12, we enclose a copy of our latest catalogue.
