多用作定语。

【例】We should be obliged if you would let us have some names and addresses of likely importers of good standing who are interested in our products.

如蒙告知对我产品感兴趣的、可靠的、合适的进口商的名称和地址，则十分感激。

 

【2】很可能的

 

常用作表语。

①后面接用不定式。句式：be likely to do sth。

【例】Please give us some ideas as to the quantity you are likely to require.

请告知你方可能需要的大约数量。

 

②句式：接用从句It is likely that…。

【例】It is likely that their shipment will be below the standard.

他们发来的货物可能不够标准。

 

liking

to one’s liking中某人的意，适合某人的喜爱

 

【例】Your alarm clocks are much to our liking.

你方的闹钟很中我们的意。

 

limit

【1】限度，范固

 

①【例】Your L/C reached us much behind the time limit as set forth in Contract No. 2208.

你方信用证到达的时间远较第2208号合同规定的期限为迟。

 

②泛指时（即不指是哪方面的“限度”时）多用复数形式。

【例】Do you consider your quotations as strict limits?

你们认为你方报价没有磋商余地吗？

 

【2】（限定的）价格

 

【例】If you can lower your limit by 5%, business is hopeful.

如你方能降价5%，则成交有希望。
