同furniture等词一样无复数形式，但可说various kinds of machinery。

【例】We have recently closed a 3-year contract with them for the supply of textile machinery and accessories.

我们最近同他们达成一项为期3年的合同，供应纺织机械及其附件。

 

madam

女士

 

在商业书信中，对方是独资商号的负责人，女性，不论已婚与未婚，皆可称为Madam或Dear Madam。复数用Mesdames或Ladies。

【例】Madam, we sincerely hope that this delay will not cause you any inconvenience.

女士，我们衷心希望这次延误不会给你方带来任何不便。

信用证现在邮寄途中。

 

【2】邮件

 

【例】The mails may have been lost.

邮件可能丢失了。

 

【3】by [per] return (of) mail [post]迅速，立即

 

①【例】We hope to receive a favourable reply per-return mail.

盼速获佳音。

 

②by return (of) mail [post]还可简化为by return。

【例】Please furnish us with your quotations by return on the items listed below.
