①用作表语。
【例】On this occasion a discount will be allowed; but in future the full price will be payable.

②用作定语时常后置。
【例】Payment: By irrevocable L/C payable against draft at sight.
支付方式：开立不可撤销的信用证，凭即期汇票支付。

②payment可搭配使用的动词甚多。例如：

②尽管payment作“支付的款项”讲时用作可数名词，但也有英美人用作不可数名词的。
