【1】成见，偏见，偏爱

 

①【例】A good manager must be free from prejudice.

一个优秀的管理人员必须没有成见[偏见]。

 

②表示对某人有成见[偏见]时，prejudice后接用against sb。

【例】The boss was accused of having a prejudice against his women employees.

老板被控对其女雇员存有偏见。

 

③注意prejudice后接用in favour of sb时，prejudice作“偏爱”讲。

【例】The managing director has a prejudice in favour of his subordinates.

公司常务董事对其下属人员有偏爱。

 

【2】without prejudice (to)（对……）无损害，无伤害

 

①【例】We are enclosing our cheque in full settlement of your claim without prejudice.

随函附上我方支票，全部偿付你方索赔金额，我方固有权益不受损害。

 

②可接用介词to。

【例】This agreement shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of China without prejudice to the application of the rules of arbitration.

本协议在不妨碍仲裁条例应用的情况下，按中国法律解释。

 

【3】伤害，损害

 

【例】This condition does not prejudice your right to reject any goods that are not up to samples.这一条件并不损害你方拒绝接受任何与样品不符的货物的权利。

为向你方提供我方出口商品的一些初步情况，现附寄我方总目录一份供参考。

过早的，未成熟的

 

【例】We deem it rather premature to take into consideration the matter of a long-term agreement.

我们认为考虑长期协议还为时过早。
