②用作连系动词表语时，前面可不用the。

①宾语后接用for sth，句式：press sb for sth。

【例】As our customers press us for prompt shipment, we must call on you to stand by your agreement.

②宾语后接用不定式。句式：press sb to do sth。

【例】We pressed them to make prompt delivery of the goods.
