Payment at Sight

 

A: What arrangement will you make about payment?

 

A：您对付款方式有什么安排？

 

 

B: We shall open an irrevocable letter of credit to cover our shipment from Shanghai to Hamburg. Is it at sight or after sight?

 

B：我们会开具一份不可撤销信用证来支付从上海到汉堡的运输费用。是即期的还是远期的？

 

 

A: At sight, of course.

 

A：当然是即期的。

 

 

B: Some customers demand that 80 percent of the credit amount be paid at sight and the rest be paid after the machines are proved satisfactory on trial.

 

B：有的客户要求即期支付80%的款项，余款待机器验收合格后再支付。

 

 

A: I’m afraid that can’t be done. We have never done business on such terms.

 

A：恐怕这样不行。我们从来没有以这种付款方式做过生意。

 

 

B: But such terms are quite common in the machinery trade. Other suppliers are offering better terms. Some even allow payment 60 days after sight.

 

B：但是这种方式在机械交易中很常见。其他供货商还会提出更合适的付款方式呢。一些甚至还可以在交易后60天内再付款。

 

 

A: We ask for full payment at sight because we guarantee 90 percent mechanical efficiency for all our products. You don’t have the same guarantee from other suppliers. The usual percentage is around 85.

 

A：之所以要求即期全部付款，是因为我们可以保证产品的机器效率达到90%。您在其他的供货商那里得不到这样的保证。通常的比率大约是85%。

 

 

B: That is true. I’m eager to know if you could send some fitters to ensure good operation.

 

B：的确是这样。我想知道您是否可以派装配工来保证机器的良好运行。

 

 

A: Yes. We usually send technicians abroad to offer after-sales service to our customers.

 

A：是的。我们通常会派技术人员去海外为顾客提供售后服务。

 

 

B: If you send fitters along with the machines to ensure that all the machines run properly, and if you provide after-sales service, we agree to make the payment in full.

 

B：如果你们随机器派装配工，保证机器正常运转，而且保证售后服务的话，我们就同意全额付款。
