【1】这（关系代词，代替上面或下面所讲的事情）

 

①【例】As has long been our practice, we abide by our contract stipulation and carry out all the contract obligations to the letter.

②用于such… as，as… as（第一个as是副词，第二个as是代词），the same as等结构中。

【例】China will import such goods as are required for her economic construction.

中国要进口经济建设所需要的货物。

 

【2】作为；当作（资格、身份、标准、用途等）

 

①【例】If you will give us two or three names as references, we shall be glad to send you samples.

如蒙告知两三家商号作为备询人，我们则乐意寄去样品。

 

②可接用名词化的形容词。

【例】We should be obliged if you would treat this order as urgent and arrange for immediate delivery.

如蒙将此订单视作紧急订货并安排立即交货，则不胜感激。

 

③动词treat，regard，appoint，represent，acknowledge，view 等常接as引出宾语的补语。

【例】Most of them regarded Mr. Jones as an honest businessman.

他们大多数人认为琼斯先生是位诚实的商人。

 

【3】如同；按照（表示方式）

 

【例】As (it is) customary, the shipping company would not issue such a certificate.

按照惯例，船公司不会开具这种证明。

 

【4】因为；既然（表示原因）

 

【例】As the market advancing, we hope you will accept our offer as soon as possible.

由于行市正在上涨，希望尽快接受我们的报盘。

 

【5】尽管；虽然（表示让步）

用as时，句中形容词或副词必须置于句首。

 

【例】Much as we appreciate your enquiry, we regret our inability to supply.

尽管我们很感激你方提出的询盘，无奈我方不能供应，很遗憾。

 

ascertain

查实；确实

 

①【例】Could you ascertain the possibility of advancing shipment?

你们能否确定有无提前装船的可能？

 

②可接用从句。

【例】We ascertained that the letter of credit was opened through a third-country bank.

我们已查明信用证是通过第三国银行开出的。

 

ascribe

把……归于；把……归结为

 

后常接用介词to，句式ascribe sth to sth。

 

【例】 Both parties ascribe the expeditious and equitable settlement of the disputes to their mutual understanding and cooperation.

双方将争议迅速而公平的解决归功于相互理解与合作。
