用于作表语，后接of短语、不定式或者that从句。

【例】We are certain of your ability to handle this matter.

【例】This Agreement shall come into operation as from September 1, 2002 and shall continue in force for one year certain.

本协议自2002年9月1日起生效，有效期为一年整。

仅用作定语。

【例】Governments might sometimes place restrictions on imports of certain types of goods in order to protect some national industries.
