Refuse to Settle a Claim

 

A: I have something very unpleasant to talk with you. Upon the arrival of the first consignment, it was found that about 50% of the 60 cases of pineapples were leaking.

 

A：我有一些很不好的事情要和您说。第一批货物发过来的时候，60箱菠萝中有50%是漏的。

 

 

B: It’s rather an unusual case. Have you found the cause of leaking?

 

B：通常不会发生这种情况的。您发现泄漏的原因了吗？

 

 

A: It’s simply because the tins were damaged.

 

A：很简单，罐子坏了。

 

 

B: It appears to be the only case to us that the goods have been damaged on the way.

 

B：看上去只可能是在运输途中损坏的。

 

 

A: I am sorry to say it was not on the way, but during loading. The tins inside the cases were broken evidently through rough handling.

 

A：很遗憾，我想这不是在途中而是在搬运过程中损坏的。箱子里的罐子很明显是因野蛮搬运损坏的。

 

 

B: Could you offer us a certificate issued by your Health Department?

 

B：能提供贵方卫生部门的证明吗？

 

 

A: Certainly. Here you are. Our health authorities said they were no longer suitable for human consumption. I have to remind you that our terms are CIF Hamburg. I hope you would indemnify us for the loss so that it wouldn’t be so heavy on us.

 

A：当然。给您。我方卫生局称它们已经不适于供人消费了。我不得不提醒您，我们的条款是汉堡的到岸价格。希望贵方可以赔偿损失以减轻我方负担。

 

 

B: Now we are prepared to settle the issue with you amicably.
