【1】征收（捐税等）

 

①【例】Buyer shall bear taxes, duties or charges, if any, which may be imposed by the government.

如政府征收捐税、关税或其他费用，应由买方负担。

 

②表示对什么征税，则用impose on[upon] sth。

【例】In our country, import duty is imposed on the value of shipment including commission.

我们的进口税是按货物的价值（包括佣金）征收的。

 

③过去分词短语可用作后置定语。

【例】Any duties, taxes or levies imposed upon the cargo, or any activities involved in the performance of the Contract shall be for the account of the Seller if imposed by the country of origin, and for the account of the Buyer if imposed by the country of destination.

（注：后两个if imposed by…为if they are imposed by…的省略从句）

对本合同货物及合同执行活动所征收的关税及其他捐税，若发生在货物生产国，则由卖方负担；若发生在目的地国家，则由买方负担。

 

【2】把……强加，规定

 

①常接用on [upon]。

【例】In business, we do not impose our requests on others.

在业务中，我们不把自己的要求强加于人。

 

②过去分词短语可用作后置定语。

【例】The Contractor shall observe all safety and other regulations imposed on the site by the Law.

承包商应遵守法定的现场安全以及其他规章。
