税,进口税,关税

 

【例】Any taxes, duties or imposts shall be borne by the Buyer.

任何捐税、关税或进口税应由买方负担。

 

impracticable

不能实行的,行不通的

 

【例】Our plan for expansion overseas was impracticable because of a sudden home demand.

由于国内需求突然变化,我们海外业务扩张计划不能实现。

 

impress

使产生好的[深刻的]印象

 

①【例】Your price does not impress us favourably.

我们的印象是,你方价格偏高。

 

②句式:impress sth on [upon] sb = impress sb with sth。

【例】We impressed our agent with the importance of his work. = We impressed on our agent the importance of his work.

我们使代理商注意到他工作的重要性。

 

③用于被动式,可接用by,with。

【例】I have been greatly impressed by Mr. Brown ever since he joined this company.

自布朗先生加入本公司以来,我一直对他有很好的印象。

 

④修饰impressed的副词,除much外,还可用修饰形容词的very,可见impressed已逐渐形容词化了。

【例】We visited your stand at the Paris Trade Exhibition last month, and were very impressed by your display of blankets.
