【1】坚持（行动等）

 

后面接用in加名词或动名词。句式persist in sth [doing sth]。

【例】We note from your letter that you persist in our making shipment according to your L/C No. 2323.

从来信得知你方坚持要我方按你方第2323号信用证要求进行交货。

 

【2】持续

 

【例】The market here has already turned better, but a sense of uncertainty persists.

此地市场情况业已好转，而一种不稳定的感觉仍持续存在。

①用于非特指某一个人。

【例】Every person in business takes risks.

在生意场上每个人都要冒风险。

 

②用于公务上（特别是法律上）表示（依法享有权利和承担义务的）“自然人”或“法人”。

【例】Those (legal) persons and firms mentioned above are licensed to produce licensed devices under patent.

兹许可上述这些法人和公司在专利证规定的范围内生产特许的各种装置。

 

③除①和②两种情况外，最好用man或woman指一个人，用people指多数人。

【例】Those customers are indeed nice people.

那些顾客都是真正的好人。

 

④尽管如此，有许多人（特别是女人）不爱用复合词chairman或spokesman指女性或泛指男女两性，他们宁愿使用chairperson或spokesperson。

【例】The chairperson presided over the meeting.

主席主持了会议。

 

【2】in person亲自

 

【例】Arrangements can be made for one of our representatives to make the trip to China and contact your office in person.

可以安排我方代表一人到中国一行，与你方公司亲自联系。

个人的，专属的

 

【例】The permission granted to Party B to use the trademarks is personal to Party B and shall not be transferable.

允许乙方使用这些商标是专属的，不得转让。
